Dear Families, Teachers, and Staff,
Our students are our single most important priority, and we take ensuring their safety seriously. Over the past few years we have created and implemented plans with the advice and input of national experts as well as our local Chief of Police, Officer Dave Battin. Over the summer we created an updated list of the next upgrades needed to ensure the safety of our building.
Here are the major safety upgrades that we have made or will be making soon:
Upgrading our outdated security cameras, adding additional outside security cameras
Purchasing dedicated security monitors
Upgrading the systems that connect the cameras and monitors
Installing several panic buttons that connect directly with the Deer Park Police
Replacing glass panels in the front door and classroom doors with plexiglass
Implementing an emergency messaging system which allows 2-way communication between groups using a dedicated number that does not rely on wifi
Adding room numbers to classroom windows and interior classroom doors and labeling exterior doors
These security upgrades will require a substantial cash investment of close to $110,000. We are reaching out to our community to ask for help making these important upgrades as these costs are beyond our anticipated safety budget.
We are hoping that families who are able, will commit to a substantial donation. We also know that some families are only able to contribute a smaller amount, or not at all, or perhaps a recurring monthly payment to spread the donation over the school year
